By this Spinoza does not intend ``common sense'' in its modern meaning of sound but unsophisticated and unreflective judgement, but the (supposed) part of the mind where all the senses come together; it would perhaps be better rendered as ``the common sensorium,'' or even just ``the senses.'' [CRS]
