A Few Words on Polluting Precious Bodily Fluids
The Economist --- no one's nest of wimpy bleeding-heart liberals --- reports that, of the thirty thousand people who are killed by guns each year in this country, approximately half either kill themselves (illegal here in the Land of the Free) or die by accident. Another nauseatingly large fraction were shot by their friends and relatives. To this we add the number killed by criminals and muckers, and realize that, whatever arguments there may be in favor of a well-regulated militia, American gun owners are no such thing.

In any case, I should like to find one sane person who can say, with a straight face, that the United States of America are currently, or for the forseeable future, in danger of invasion; that having lots of rifles and handguns in the hands of any half-sober, half-sane person would hinder a determined attempt to impose a police state in this country, much less a military coup d'etat. Since these are the classic reasons for having an armed militia, and they are all, today, patently absurd, I should like new ones; or a constitutional amendment.

N.B. When I get e-mail telling me that ``you don't deserve to live in this once proud nation, that has been decimated by liberal scumbags, NAZI's [sic], Facists, and commies,'' it does not exactly reduce my attachment to these views.
