The Bactra Review Induction
The notion of ``concept'' our authors use here is extremely close to that
employed by the philosopher of science Stephen Toulmin in Human
Understanding: The Collective Use and Evolution of Concepts (Princeton
U.P., 1972), which however our authors do not cite. Toulmin thought of his
concepts as an alternative to formalization via logic or AI, so it's amusing to
see them get perfectly good computational implementations; but also reassuring
to me, since his arguments on their behalf make a lot of sense.
