Bactra Review    Vehicles
By an American neurologist living in Britain, W. Grey Walter, who called them Machina spp., and featured them, along with his pioneering work on electroencephalography, in his curious and now-too-little-known book, The Living Brain (New York: W. W. Norton, 1953). A photograph of some of Walter's machines, en famille with Walter, Mrs. Walter and their young daughter, was at one point fairly widely reproduced... Oddly, The Living Brain is not in Braitenberg's list of references.
