03 Oct 1994 12:02By all reports, Mr. Ozawa is a Power That Be among the Japanese reformists, and a very curious character: ``The name of the new block, Kaishin, literally means `innovation', but it harks back to a seventh-century coup in which an anti-reform regent was slashed to death by impatient modernizers.'' (Let us here no more about Oriental subtlety!)
