Yet Another Inadequate Placeholder
A field that is, as it were, at once a cousin to statistics and a sub-field of population biology. I started to get seriously interested in it when I got involved in a data-analysis project with historians about estimating populations from partial contemporaneous records, combined with census records at the end of the period. (I'm being cagey because we haven't published yet.) This quickly made it clear to me that I needed to know a lot more about demographic modeling...
