On Plagiarism

Many people are linking to a typically-intelligent piece by Malcolm Gladwell on plagiarism, and how it's more ethically more complicated than one might suppose. (That link will expire soon, but then it'll show up at his site.) He has some points to make, about how little of any work is actually new, and how much it draws on a heritage of earlier efforts. But right now I am have no sympathy whatsoever for plagiarism (Google cache).

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone.
